Calming Nature Escapes in Bali: My Favorite Stays (Some Tried, Some Still Dreaming Of)

If you’ve been searching Pinterest for wellness retreat inspo and ended up daydreaming about lush jungles, quiet mornings, and soaking in mountain air—this list is for you.
Bali has no shortage of adventure, culture, and movement—but sometimes, the real magic lies in staying still somewhere beautiful. These calming, nature-filled stays offer just that. Some I’ve personally experienced and loved; others are still on my list. None require a program or itinerary—just your presence.
Munduk Moding Plantation – North Bali (been here and adored it)
This one gave me Twilight energy—misty, moody, and incredibly cozy. Some cabins even have a real fireplace, and mine had a bathtub with a glass ceiling. Cool mountain air, dramatic infinity pools disappearing into the clouds, and complete peace. I still think about it often.

Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort – Tabanan (wishlist)
With bamboo domes, river views, and earthy architecture that blends seamlessly into its surroundings, Ulaman looks like a sanctuary built by the land itself. It’s easy to imagine slow mornings, meaningful stillness, and a sense of soft reset—without needing a structured retreat.
Bambu Indah – Ubud (wishlist)
Antique teak homes suspended above a river valley, copper tubs in the open air, and jungle pools fed by spring water. Bambu Indah has long lived on my vision board. A dreamy balance of eco-conscious design and natural beauty.

Magic Hills Bali – Selat (East Bali) (been here and loved it)
This bamboo villa felt like a fantasy—tucked above rice fields with panoramic views of Mount Agung. Outdoor shower, plunge pool, and floating breakfast trays included. I loved every detail of the design and the feeling of being gently held by the land around it.
Toteme Glamping & Hot Spring – Kintamani (been here and loved it)
Located near Mount Batur, this peaceful glamping stay offers comfort, great food, and one of my favorite features—a communal natural hot spring pool right on the grounds. Mornings are cool and quiet, with volcano views and steam rising from the water. It’s a simple, healing kind of beautiful.

Sumberkima Hill – North Bali (been here and loved it)
Private villas tucked into the hillside with views over the sea. But what really makes this place special is nearby Pemuteran Beach, where the water is crystal clear and the crowds are few. I visited the turtle sanctuary and even got to release baby turtles—a quiet moment that meant the world.
Yama Balian – Balian Beach (wishlist)
Set between a river and the jungle, Yama Balian offers an infrared sauna, ice baths, riverside massage treatments, and yoga in an open-air shala. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard—just lets you be. Still on my list, but already feels familiar.
Vipassana 10-Day Meditation Retreat – Tabanan (I’ve done this)
This is a completely different kind of retreat: no phones, no talking, no distractions. Ten days of complete silence and deep meditation in the quiet hills of Tabanan. The experience is entirely donation-based, and although it’s not luxurious, it was one of the most transformative things I’ve ever done.
A Note for the Dreamers
These places aren’t about luxury for luxury’s sake. They’re about quiet, connection, and feeling your shoulders finally drop. Whether you're looking for real-life wellness retreat inspo or simply bookmarking beautiful places to rest your mind, this list is a love letter to the calm corners of Bali.
